It dawned on me yesterday that I’ve been really behind on blogging this past week. Whoops. I just haven’t been able to squeeze in the time to sit down and articulate in writing everything that I want to talk about. However, I’ve been baking and cooking a lot and I can’t wait to share with y’all what I’ve been working on in my kitchen!

Regardless of whether you’ll be celebrating Valentine’s Day this coming weekend, take the time to appreciate your loved ones around you. For me, I’m thankful for my family and friends who have walked through life with me thus far. I’m grateful for how they point me to Christ and for showing me so much grace when I screw up. Most importantly, I love that I’m surrounded by people who have more faith in God than I do, and that they sharpen me in my own walk. Thank you guys so much for demonstrating Christ-like love in my life. Love y’all! HEARTS.

Christianity:

You Cannot Serve Both God and Theology – This week I’m linking to two of Marshall Segal’s articles from Desiring God. Praise God for him. I love that he speaks so much truth and writes so eloquently. “Without theology, you will not know God — literally and spiritually. So, this article is not meant to be a prohibition against theology — God forbid — but a caution and a warning about theology. Knowledge about God can replace an authentic knowing of him to our destruction, especially for the theologically refined and convinced. We all should want our theology to be not only true, but Spirit-filled and fruitful.”

Fifty Shades of Nay: Sin is a Needle, Not a Toy – The second article by Marshall Segal! I briefly touched upon why I would never watch or read Fifty Shades of Grey last week. For all my brothers and sisters in Christ, this article points out ten of God’s promises that we need to be reminded of. One such truth is this, “God’s grace can cover any sexual sin – however selfish, dark, and even violent – but it never entertains it or makes peace with it.”

Why Knowing Jesus is Not Enough – Here Alister McGrath shares about how reading Philippians helped in his struggles with not just knowing about God, but truly loving him, and answering the questions he had about the role of the church.

On My Shelf: Life and Books with Lauren Chandler – I really enjoyed reading this short interview with Lauren Chandler, the wife of Matt Chandler. I was happy to read that I’m currently finishing two out of three life-changing books that she named.

Food:

Buttermilk Cake with Blood Orange Frosting – Blood oranges seem to be the rage in the food blogging world these days. Need to try blood oranges some time.

Lemon Cake with Raspberries – Sooo pretttyyy. I’m not sure if I’d be able to pull this off but it’s so gorgeous to look at.

Skillet Chicken and Bacon with White Wine Sauce – Chicken meets bacon. Sounds like a perfect combo to me.

How to Make Maple Candy – These are cute!

Oven Braised Beef with Tomatoes and Garlic Only – 3 ingredients only? I’m definitely making this.

The Easy Way to Make Cake Flour Substitute – Saving this. I never buy cake flour and whenever a recipe calls for it, I try to make it myself.

Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes – YUM.

Flourless Red Velvet Marble Cake – I can’t believe this was made without flour. Seriously, a cake without flour? Genius.

Red Velvet Layer Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting – Another red velvet cake, just in time for Valentine’s Day. I would just make this for myself. I used to be obsessed with red velvet cupcakes back in college. It’s been a while since I’ve had one.

Miscellaneous:

32 Places People Have Mispronounced Their Entire Life – I mispronounce practically all of these cities all the time. This was super helpful and informative.

Sherlocked – There’s going to be a Sherlock convention in London this coming April. I’m so jealous and sad that I can’t make it!

Music:

I’m only watching one Korean drama right now and it ended this week. I haven’t had time to catch up on Healer’s finale but I’ve been playing Ji Chang Wook’s original soundtrack for the drama on repeat. It’s titled “I Will Protect You” and it’s very appropriate, given his character in this action mystery and thriller. Healer’s probably going to be one of my top three Kdramas of the year, if I even watch more than three this year.
